Braces Friendly Foods Restaurant Series | Einstein Bros Bagel
I have oftentimes warned patients about avoiding bagels when they have orthodontic braces. Bagels are tough on braces and are known to break them frequently. I was pleasantly surprised with the Bagel Thin Eggwhite Sandwich I ordered at the drive-thru.
The Food & Verdict:
Bagel Thin Eggwhite Asparagus, Mushroom & Swiss, $5-6: Braces friendly.
The real sandwich pictured above doesn’t look as appetizing as advertised on Einstein Bros’ website but it truly is delicious (see below picture)–really.
Discussion & Summary:
Even though the bagel thin eggwhite asparagus, mushroom & Swiss is not as tough as the traditional bagel sandwich, one should still be conscience with chewing carefully. Cutting up the bagel into smaller pieces may be a good idea as well. I find it a little steep at $5-6 for this bagel sandwich although I could understand that asparagus is not a cheap vegetable.
Einstein Bros claimed that this sandwich is 270 calories of vegetarian goodness. I don’t think that this will fill up an empty stomach but will make a good mid-morning, mid-afternoon or a late-night snack. I will definitely come back for this snack again and again.
Too bad there isn’t any locations in the south or east side of Tucson, and not in Sahuarita and Green Valley Arizona either.
PS: Please cut up food into small bite sized pieces.
PSS: don’t forget to brush teeth and braces after eating.
